New York Giants at Philadelphia Eagles

A loss gives them a significant uphill climb to make the playoffs.

And in order for the Giants (0-2) to avoid facing those historically long odds, they need a victory against the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field, an environment in which NY hasn't won in four years. Thus the questions about whether the Giants must win this game. Coach Ben McAdoo will continue to call plays, sources say, against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. Agholor caught a TD pass in each of the first two games. "I'm confident in what we can do. We need a win, and what better team to beat than Philly". That ends Graham's consecutive games played streak at 159. So I don't go into it putting a number on it. "You just have to be in the moment". Manning has one or less touchdown passes in four straight games.

The Giants still have a formidable defense led by coordinator Steve Spagnuolo and several talented players, including Jason Pierre-Paul, Olivier Vernon and Landon Collins. It's a division game. Wentz and company will need to establish the run early if they are going to win in Week 3 to move to 2-1 (2-0 in the NFC East).

Those injuries will put stress on the Birds' coaching staff as it aims to patch together a defensive backfield in time to play the Giants (0-2).

"At the end of the day, I feel like I'm fairly fast, but [not] almost as fast to get away from these guys", Wentz said.

There was not one thought about the Super Bowl at that point. If New York can hash out the win, the Giants will immediately have one up on the Eagles in the division and would be thrust back into the mix of things.

Eli Manning, Odell Beckham Jr. and the slumping Giants (0-2) face the Eagles (1-1) in their home opener on Sunday. "Yeah, they're 0-2, but they are a good football team".

Perhaps as a result, players and staffers say Thursday's practice was the best of the year, with Global Positioning System data to prove it. You can go 0-5, win the next 11 and you never know. "I'm going to go out there and battle", Pugh said.

Nor does anyone else on the team. Those objectives are not mutually exclusive. Heading into Week 3, only one team-the Cincinnati Bengals (9)-has scored fewer points than the Giants (13). Jenkins said. "Whether it's the first game, second game, last game I'd probably say the same thing". He was selected as the New York State sportswriter of the year in 2015 and 2011 by the National Sports Media Association. Cousins occasionally steps up with a big game, however, and this is a chance to make a statement. There's just something about this team that seems to bring out the best in the Eagles. I do think Pederson will run more this game than he did in the first two weeks. Eli Apple and Ross Cockrell will likely play outside with Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie at nickel if Jenkins can't go.

2007: They opened with losses in Dallas and at home against the Packers. The Giants have scored just one touchdown, they're last in the National Football League in rushing yards (48.5 a game), and have converted only 33% of their third-down opportunities (eight of 24). The defensive line and the secondary are the strengths of the Giants' defense. They will be aggressive and challenge you to burn them. This problem becomes more grave given the situation of two other players: Jaylen Watkins and Corey Grahams. "Hopefully, we've kind of hit the rough patch and we'll work ourselves out of it".

"Man, come on. I had a rough night and I hate the f-kin' Eagles, man!" They need more touches. "Nothing the defense can do (on offense), but pretty sure they're going to come out and play this week". We're talking about top-flight athletes who have a lot of pride.

It only has looked like The Great Wall of China.
