Romelu Lukaku Chant Used by Manchester United Fans Despite Request to Stop

He was then asked if he went on the pitch, replying: "No, I don't think so".

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has insisted he will not "cry" over the absence of Paul Pogba, but instead will place his trust in the remainder of his squad for the indefinite time the Frenchman will be unavailable for selection.

While Mourinho undoubtedly is a tactical mastermind it seems far-fetched to assume that he'd court controversy just to see the last few seconds through, and yet due to his personality, one can never know.

Mourinho was also asked about United's supporters again using their controversial chant for Romelu Lukaku - one Kick It Out have called "offensive and discriminatory" - and the 54-year-old responded: "I don't understand what the fans sing".

The Manchester United ace limped out of United's 3-0 Champions League win over Basel on September 12. He told me to leave, and I left.

Their only other win this season came against a West Ham side that's just two points of goal differential against the relegation zone, and they played an hour of the match down a man.

United appears to have lost some of its early season fluency since losing Paul Pogba to a hamstring injury 10 days ago, and the midfielder's absence was evident once more as Southampton dominated possession. Unless of course Southampton put in their best performance of the season and beat United, in which case they'll have a lot more questions to answer.

Southampton responded with a change in the 71st minute as Gabadini replaced Sean Davis as they pushed for an equaliser.

"We couldn't do that and it's something we have to improve".

The 21-year-old French global has started just one league match for Jose Mourinho this season but came off the bench to score a penalty in last week's 4-0 win over Everton. He now has eight goals in eight competitive games and has failed to score only once in United colours. We were hanging on towards the end and it wasn't good enough on our behalf.
