Amber Tamblyn believes Charlyne Yi's racism accusations against husband David Cross

Actress Amber Tamblyn reached out to the comedian who accused Tamblyn's husband David Cross of racist behavior ― and said she believes her.

The This Is 40 star took to Twitter on Monday (16Oct17) and recalled an very bad encounter with funnyman Cross at the beginning of her career a decade ago, claiming he made fun of what she was wearing and then joked about her Asian roots, saying, "Ching-chong-ching-chong".

In a tweet directly responding to Yi's first statement, Cross said he did not remember the encounter at all and that it was "bonkers" and "way out of character".

As Twitter users piled on the Alvin & the Chipmunks star, his wife came to his defense, urging trolls to accept the fact he had apologized.

"I'll say it again", Tamblyn wrote. Just hours later, she announced that she spoke to Yi. "I'm buying teething gel right now but will get to the bottom of this as soon as I get home". "I spoke to Charlyne". That okay with you?

Cross responded to the allegations with shock, tweeting back "Charlene, I don't remember this at all!"

"I will say this for the last time".

"I would never intentionally hurt someone like that", he explained. I do remember meeting her though.

He emphatically added that he wasn't accusing Yi of lying in any way and he's "truly sorry" if he hurt her.

"I must have done my version of a southern redneck character, one of which I am well acquainted with from growing up in Georgia, which I have made fun of forever (Ronnie Dobbs, stand up etc) and Charlyne did not understand I was doing my "welcome to Shreveport" greeting", he wrote.
