Arizona Diamondbacks Return Home For Game 3 In NLDS

After a leadoff double to Chris Taylor to start the game, Bellinger brought him home on a fielder's choice groundout to first base three batters later, and the Dodgers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead.

The imbalance of solo home runs was enough, though, and the Dodgers will not be bounced from the first round of the postseason ignominiously after their historic regular season.

Arizona battled and cut the lead to one run, at 2-1, after a solo homer by Daniel Descalso in the fifth, but Bellinger flashed his glove with an fantastic play to put an end to any rally.

Which is why having Yu Darvish is so important, giving the team another ace-caliber pitcher heading into the NLCS and possibly World Series. Yet he worked out of several jams, and gave up only that one run through four innings, and only two through five after a solo blast by Bellinger.

The midseason trade acquisition for the Dodgers lived up to his hype as he allowed just one hit-a bunt single-through the first four and 2/3 innings. In the sixth inning, Austin Barnes added a solo home run of his own. The 4.63 ERA in 19 postseason games speaks for itself. Darvish will be a big weapon for the Dodgers down the stretch.

There was little stopping the Los Angeles Dodgers on their way to another National League Championship Series berth.

The Dodgers are looking to advance to the NLCS for the second straight year after losing to the Cubs in six games in 2016.
