Backwards compatibility with original Xbox games on track for end of 2017

The four new 500GB Xbox One S bundles include the Xbox One S Minecraft Complete Adventure Bundle, the Xbox One S Rocket League Blast-Off Bundle, the Xbox One S Starter Bundle, and the Xbox One S Ultimate Halo Bundle.

Looking at the bigger picture, enabling cross-platform interaction between multiple systems will be helping the entire gaming community, according to his team at Microsoft. The head-turning announcement made waves, as this has never happened before. And he's a big advocate of cross-platform gaming in general, which would lead us to suspect we'll see more Xbox Live and Windows 10 PC cross-play games before to long.

Phil Spencer spoke about how the Xbox One S would be the this year's best selling Xbox back in June.

In a recent interview with Gamespot, Xbox boss Phil Spencer mentioned that Xbox One Backward Compatibility with the Original Xbox is very, very close.

"We talk to Sony all the time", he told them". I know the games that are coming for the original Xbox but I don't think we've announced them all.

"I don't think everybody is taking that same approach to the ecosystem. They should talk about what their view is..." Available in all Xbox One markets except Russia, China, India, Japan, Argentina, Brazil, Turkey, Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Nothing is ever set in stone, but the way things are now with Sony makes Spencer believe the company may never come around. Therefore, this kind of openness keeps multiplayer experiences rich, and they make games more inclusive and communal experiences.

Evidently then, it's not a technical issue.

Sony has previously said it didn't want to go in for cross-platform gaming with Minecraft because it would need to relinquish some control over how it looks after is online gamer base, and that in a cross-platform environment it couldn't manage any problems that crop up, such as bulling between gamers and exposing young children who play Minecraft to some of the toxic attitudes and behaviours of older gamers.

Do you think Sony should relent and allow cross-play between PS4 and Xbox One? Most of these bundles include a variety of games and content, and limited free access to Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass.
