Carragher names his XI of the Premier League season so far

But which players are in a Premier League best XI for their performances so far?

After offloading Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool in the summer, along with several other squad players such as Lucas Perez, Kieran Gibbs and Wojciech Szczesny, Arsenal look set to lose their two most influential players in the next year or so.

But that's what Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher attempted to do for the Telegraph.

In goal, Carragher opted for David de Gea, the Manchester United and Spain 'keeper widely considered to be one of the best in the world and arguably the best in the Premier League.

The Premier League champions have four players in Carragher's side, Spurs have three, his former team Liverpool have two players, while there is one player each from the two Manchester clubs.

Manchester City are not far behind Man Utd with five clean sheets this season, a rate that would also beat the Chelsea record.

"I think Alderweireld last season was the outstanding centre-back", said Carragher. "Alongside him, Belgium team-mate Vertonghen was not far behind".

Right midfield: Kevin de Bruyne (Manchester City)'The standout player at the start of this season. "He has gone from Leicester City to Chelsea and been the most impressive player in both sides".

Former Lille star Hazard will be hoping to feature for Chelsea when the Blues take on Crystal Palace in their next Premier League game at Selhurst Park on Saturday.

Right winger: Sadio Mane (Liverpool)'Last season without him Liverpool fell apart at times.

Centre-forward: Harry Kane (Tottenham)'We are three or four years in now and I think we will be saying the same in 10 years about him being the main striker in the Premier League'.
