Deandre Harris, who was savagely beaten in Charlottesville, wanted in assault case

But months after arrests were made in his case, 20-year-old Deandre Harris is now wanted by police.

Police in Charlottesville, Virginia, have issued a warrant charging a black man beaten at a white nationalist rally for an alleged assault during the confrontation.

"On today's date, a warrant was issued for Deandre Shakur Harris (B/M; 20 years of age; resident of Suffolk, Virginia) in relation to an assault that occurred on August 12th in the area of the East Market Street parking garage", police said.

Harris was participating in the counter-protest during the "Unite the Right" rally on August 12.

Merritt said that Harris would turn himself over to police within 24 hours.

The victim reported the incident to the magistrate office, which requested that a detective review the facts. Footage from the rally showed a white nationalist using a Confederate flag pole to fight with a counter protester. A man has been charged with murder in Heyer's death. His beating in a parking garage as a white supremacist rally took place was captured on video and received widespread attention. Then, Harris used a flashlight to scuffle with the white nationalist.

Harris' head injuries were so severe that he required eight staples.

Two men were charged with malicious wounding in September in the attack against Harris. "Every time I went to stand up I was knocked back down", Harris has said about the attack, according to BuzzFeed. He said the attackers also broke his wrist, chipped his tooth and split open his lip.
