Disney drops animated Jack and the Beanstalk movie big

Variety reports that Walt Disney Animation Studios has ceased development on enormous, a big screen adaptation of the classic fairytale "Jack and the Beanstalk" set to hit theaters on November 25, 2020.

Now that huge is no longer being developed, Disney will be moving on to a different project to fill the 2020 release window that was previously occupied by big.

Yet, on paper, enormous seemed to contain all the necessary elements for a new classic, with its variation on the fairy tale Jack and the Giant Bean, located in Spain in the old, where good old Jack had to help a giant teenager to return home.

"Sometimes, no matter how much we love an idea or how much heart goes into it, we find that it just isn't working". This is where their then-upcoming feature very big comes in, which we are sad to report has been canceled. We have arrived at this point with the big and, although this is a hard decision, we put an end to its development for the moment. The project, first announced at the 2015 D23 Expo, was to be directed by TANGLED's Nathan Greno. Frozen songwriters Robert Lopez and Kirsten Anderson-Lopez were going to write the music. But things soon change when he meets Inma, an 11-year-old girl who just so happens to be 60-feet tall and part of a world filled with giants.

Instead of "Gigantic", the studio is focusing on another project which is now being tabled for Thanksgiving 2020. The animated comedy wound up grossing $330 million worldwide, the lowest total for a Pixar title. This release will follow the studio's two upcoming sequels; Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 on November 21, 2018, and Frozen 2 on November 27, 2019.
