Firing in Sweden's Trelleborg leaves at least four wounded

Police in southern Sweden say several people have been injured in a small town known for past gang violence, butthe incident is not being investigated as terrorism.

Another neighbour told the newspaper: 'There were many shots.

"We have received several reports of a shooting in Trelleborg", the police spokesman had explained earlier, according to British daily the Express.

Police have launched a major operation.

They said several people were injured at different locations. It's packed with police cars in the street'.


Shortly thereafter, armed police arrived and cordoned off the crime scene, where witnesses had reported hearing a loud "bang".

"We were quickly on the spot and found that, within a fairly limited area, we find more people with suspected shot injury".

The victims were reportedly rushed to hospitals in Malmö and Lund.

Security officials have blocked some areas and are conducting "an investigation".

An eyewitness to Swedish official news agency, TT, said he heard six gunshots and saw many people fleeing environment.
