Gordon Hayward Likely Done for the Season

Boston Celtics off-season addition Gordon Hayward is not expected to return this season after sustaining two major injuries in the team's season opener, Hayward's agent told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

The coach added that although Hayward is suffering from some of the common post-surgery challenges, like pain, the forward's spirits were "pretty positive yesterday" after "the surgery went great". But Stevens is confident that they will devise a plan of attack to make the forward's time off meaningful and effective. But there's one thing we do know: The plethora of young talent filling the seats on the Celtics' bench will certainly have their chance to step up.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens said earlier on Wednesday that he wasn't sure when Hayward's surgery would be or what the timetable would be for his recovery. "His health is most important". It starts next week when he gets the stitches out, and then we go from there. "But I'll be supporting you guys from here, and wishing you the best of luck".

A proven veteran and reliable starter since coming to Boston, Horford's role likely won't change much at all.

In all, the Celtics will be able to recoup approximately $11 million of the $29.7 million the team owes Hayward this season.

"There's no need to panic", said guard Jaylen Brown, who tallied 18 points before fouling out late in the fourth quarter.

Tatum, meanwhile, followed up a 14-point, 10 rebound double-double on Tuesday, with 8 points and 9 rebounds against Milwaukee. He's a guy you want to play with on both ends of the floor. Smart moved into the starting lineup on Wednesday night against the Bucks. "We're just trying to keep Gordon in our prayers". When guys go down other guys gotta step up, so that's what we have to do. Introduced to the crowd by Marcus Smart, Hayward concluded his emotional address by saying, "Kill it".

Newcomers Abdel Nader and Semi Ojeleye are also candidates to fight for rotation spots. TNT had them behind the Wizards and Raptors, but they are still as good as those teams.
