"Halloween" - Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (John Carpenter Cover) [YouTube Audio Single]

In order to prove their comeback game is as strong as ever, and just in time for All Hallows Eve, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have put together a pretty impeccable cover of the classic theme song for Halloween. Anticipating the October 20th, 2017 release of John Carpenter's third studio album, Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998, and Friday the 13th, Reznor and Ross debuted their version to eager listeners yesterday.

"[My friends and I] left the theater forever changed", Trent Reznor said in a statement.

Carpenter adds that he's "impressed" by Reznor and Ross's "moody and dark" version of the "Halloween" theme, saying that it "does fantastic justice to the original".

Few pairings could be so unnervingly flawless as Trent Reznor covering John Capenter's theme for 1978 horror film Halloween, but here we are, on this blessed Friday the 13, receiving just that.

Reznor and Ross recreate the atmosphere Carpenter originally achieved when he penned the theme 39 years ago. We were damaged and scarred, with the shit genuinely scared out of us and that theme stuck firmly in our heads.

John Carpenter's scores for the first three Halloween films are fantastically phantasmagorical, slipping into that space between wonder and terror like spiked walls closing around your doom.

For his part, Carpenter is very pleased with the band's cover of his work.
