Helena brewery brings home the Silver

At the Great American Beer Festival in Denver this past weekend, beers from Spellbound Brewing in Mount Holly, Eight & Sand Beer Co. in Woodbury and River Horse Brewing Co. in Ewing received high accolades in the competition that featured more than 2,000 breweries from across the country. Since it was founded in 1982, it has been growing along with the craft beer industry.

"We are delighted to win again at this year's GABF".

The Midsize Brewing Company and Brewer of the Year award is given by the Brewers Association to a brewery that brews between 15,000 - 6,000,000 barrels in a year. Uberbrew's Canü won the silver medal in the American-Style Cream Ale category.

Of the thousands of applicants, three Cincinnati-area breweries took home gold medals: Taft's Ale House, Fifty West Brewing Co. and Brink Brewing Co.

But when it then took home a silver medal for its Hop Zombie, an imperial red ale, that sent an entirely different message that is likely to help the brewery grow its brand and sales more.

The company won gold in the Honey Beer category for their Orange Blossom Common.

A complete list of winners can be found here. According to the festival, it is the world's largest commercial beer competition.

But more often than not, the day went to Colorado breweries whose selections as winners out of the 7,923 beers entered into competition might have turned some heads.
