James Franklin seemingly shoots down Texas A&M rumors via subtweet

Responding to reports that Texas A&M could be interested in Penn State HC James Franklin, Penn State and Franklin announced that they remain committed to each other.

The report did not indicate whether Franklin would have any interest in taking the Texas A&M job, which remains filled by Sumlin. He has a key matchup this week with Florida in "The Swamp" on deck.

The Aggies opened the 2017 season by blowing a 34-point second half lead over UCLA to intensify the cries for Sumlin to be fired.

ArtsQuest invites the Nittany Lions' faithful to a "White Out Viewing Party" at SteelStacks in Bethlehem for this month's top-10 tilt between Penn State and Ohio State.

That's where things get a little more interesting.

Texas A&M's desire to move on will likely be predicated on how it fares the remainder of the season.

A&M has devoted huge resources to football since it moved to the SEC, but Franklin, a Pennsylvania native, has Penn State rolling at a high level on the field and in recruiting.

If the 2017 season keeps trending upward in Happy Valley, odds are Franklin and Penn State brass will be back at the negotiating table this winter.

Before the season, Franklin signed a contract extension that would make him Penn State's coach through the 2022 season at an average of $5.8 million per year.
