Jason Aldean pays homage to shooting victims

On Oct. 1, Aldean, 40, was performing the closing set at the outdoor country music festival that was at the end of its third day when gunman Stephen Paddock fired bullets from his 32nd-floor hotel room at the Mandalay Bay on the crowd of more than 22,000 concertgoers.

The show opened on Jason Aldean, who was on stage at the Route 91 Festival in Las Vegas on October 1 when the attack began that left 58 people dead and injured almost 500.

Country singer Jason Aldean performed an emotional tribute to the victims of the Las Vegas shooting on Saturday Night Live - less than a week after the deadliest mass shooting in modern USA history.

One week later, Jason and Brittany visited survivors of the shooting at University Medical Center. "It seems unreal to be back in Vegas today. #VegasStrong", commented Brittany on Instagram.

Before he went into a cover of the late Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down", he began with a message to all the victims and their families affected by the attack.

"Feels surreal being back in Vegas today", Brittany captioned a picture of the couple standing near the site of the shooting.

"So many people are hurting and they're our children, parents, brothers, sisters, friends", Aldean said. "You have helped us try to begin the healing process by seeing the strength each one of you have".

Took me a while to be able to write these words... thank you to everyone who has reached out to Jason and I...

"I want to say to them, we hurt for you and we hurt with you", he added. "So many people are hurting". "Jason spent time with our patients who were critically injured during the Las Vegas shooting".

He also gave an emotional speech about the Vegas tragedy, saying "we're going to walk through these tough times together". His visit helped heal hearts and cheer those who were wounded in this tragedy.

"Because when America is at its best, out bond and our spirit is unbreakable", the county singer said.
