Jason Momoa joked that he loved pretending to

His apology comes after footage showing Momoa joking about his character and the "rape lovely women" while speaking at a Comic-Con panel resurfaced online. "I don't like women crying when I'm making love to them".

The 38-year-old - who played Khal Drogo in the HBO fantasy epic - was speaking at the San Diego Comic Con in 2011 when he made the insensitive remark.

"As far as sci-fi and fantasy, I love that genre because there are so many things you can do" says Mamoa.

The clip in question is from the Game of Thrones Comic-Con panel in 2011.

In the aftermath of damning revelations of abuse by Hollywood executive Harvey Weinstein, victims have stepped forward to share their own painful stories, and those with a history of inappropriate comments and behavior are getting loudly called out.

Momoa elaborated on the comments in an interview with the New York Post.

Emilia Clarke (plays Daenerys Targaryen), Kit Harington (Jon Snow) and Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) were seen holding their heads in their hands.

That now includes actor Jason Momoa, made famous by his role as the burly Dothraki lord Khal Drogo on Game of Thrones. I'm not a rapist!

It comes as Momoa's co star in the upcoming Justice League film, Ben Affleck, admitted he "acted inappropriately" and apologised to One Tree Hill's Hilarie Burton. Caring for my young children is my first priority and I ask the media for privacy at this time, ' Chapman said in a statement.
