Kurt Angle to Return to the Ring at "TLC"

Kurt Angle to Return to the Ring at

On Friday, it was revealed that Angle will be replacing Roman Reigns at the upcoming WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs event. It will be Angle's first match in a WWE ring since August 8th, 2006, when he faced Sabu at an ECW show taping.

WWE also announced AJ Styles will replace Bray Wyatt against "The Demon" Finn Balor. With both men previously serving as leaders of the Bullet Club stable in New Japan Pro Wrestling, this is a match many fans have been waiting for. For now, it appears that the rest of the TLC card remains intact.

The announcement noted that Reigns and Wyatt are dealing with "medical issues", which prompted the changes just two days before the pay-per-view. To fill in for Reigns, Raw general manager Kurt Angle will step into the ring to wrestle for the company for the first time in 11 years. After all, WWE has spent the last several weeks of Raw building up to The Shield's first match back together as a unit since 2014, and now that reunion will have to be postponed to a future event.

Kurt Angle is set to return to action in WWE.

Balor (as The Demon) was originally scheduled to face Wyatt (as Sister Abigail) in a match that may have been a culmination of a months-long feud that had taken some odd turns and reached supernatural levels of weird. Styles/Balor has a real chance to steal the show out from under everyone else, in truly "phenomenal" fashion.

TLC is live this Sunday night on pay-per-view and the WWE Network.
