Malayalam Actor Dileep Gets Bail In Actress Assault Case

The courts earlier rejected four bail pleas by Dileep - twice each in the trial court and the High Court.

The Kerala High Court on Tuesday granted bail to Malayalam actor Dileep in the actress abduction case. Dileep has been in jail for the past 86 days. His bail has been granted when the investigation team is set to file the chargesheets. He has also been directed to deposit Rs 1 lakh in court as surety as well as two other personal sureties. Dileep should surrender his passport and appear before the investigating officer as and when required, the court said.

Dileep was arrested on July 10, and charged with plotting the abduction and assault of the actress. Besides, the investigation agency had no case that the petitioner had ever threatened or influenced any witnesses.

Meanwhile, Dileep-starrer Ramaleela, which released on September 28, has opened to rave reviews in Kerala. He is accused of hatching a plot to abduct and assault a Malayalam actress in a moving auto through "prime accused" Pulsar Suni and his associates. Dileep's fans are planning for a grand show of his Ramleela in Kochi. However, rumours about Dileep's alleged involvement in the case began to do rounds.

She lodged a complaint with the police, who arrested all the accused allegedly involved in the crime. The main accused, Pulsar Suni, is still in the custody of the State police. However, the police found his statements to be contradictory. The force has further said that the conspiracy dates back to a few years and that the motive is revenge. The woman actor is believed to have been instrumental in Dileep's ex-wife Manju Warrier divorcing him.
