Manchester City streak seals manager of the month for Guardiola

The league leaders could be boosted by the return of leading scorer Sergio Aguero for Saturday's match, as he has recovered from a broken rib quicker than expected.

Guardiola's side won all four fixtures, against Liverpool, Watford, Crystal Palace and Chelsea, scoring 17 goals without conceding.

Argentina's national-team doctor was quoted last week saying Aguero was likely to be sidelined for up to six weeks, but the player himself appears to have the initial prognosis in mind.

The club is still dubious about Aguero's condition and is seeking time to announce his inclusion in the team.

Forward Sergio Aguero has explained why he thinks it would not be easy for Manchester City to sign Lionel Messi from FC Barcelona. City are now above United by the virtue of a superior goal difference.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane was named player of the month after scoring six goals in four league games.

City sit top of the Premier League on goal difference ahead of neighbours Manchester United and entertain Stoke City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

The Potters recovered from back-to-back defeats away at Newcastle and at home to Chelsea with a 2-1 home win over Southampton before the global break.
