Jones was forced off with an injury to his thigh during United's 2-1 defeat at Huddersfield Town in their last league outing, with his replacement Victor Lindelof struggling as his deputy.

Manchester United narrowly beat Tottenham 1-0 in the corresponding fixture last season, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan scoring the only goal of the game.

"I expect United to try and frustrate Spurs by sitting deep and try to play on the break, as they know that if they try and take Tottenham on with open football, then they could easily get beaten", he told Coral. In fact, the Manchester United boss has been greeted by some positive news this weekend, with two players set to be available after their respective injury layoffs. "I believe that Phil Jones will be fit for Saturday against Tottenham, but apart from that I have no news".

"(If) I speak about him, I have to speak about Zlatan Ibrahimovic, (Marouane) Fellaini, (Paul) Pogba, (Marcos) Rojo, (Michael) Carrick - so I don't speak".

Just one of the last seven encounters between the teams has resulted in a draw, but there are odds of 23/10 (3.30) available on them cancelling each other out in this one.

"I don't speak about injured players, so don't ask me about Harry Kane", the Portuguese added, before listing United's own lengthy injury list. "I think Jose Mourinho and the fans would take that and forget about producing an entertaining performance".

Having conceded just a single goal in six home games this campaign, the hosts will certainly back themselves to keep Harry Kane and bay in the same way they did Jurgen Klopp's team.
