Mascherano to retire from internationals after 2018 World Cup

Javier Mascherano admits he's considering his future at Barcelona.

He is, though, completely sure that he won't continue to play for Argentina after next summer.

Mascherano joined Barcelona from Liverpool in 2010 and is under contract at the Camp Nou until 2019.

"But I've not yet spoken with anyone". "And I was really calm because I knew the match would come to our side, even if they didn't get a great start".

"I am trying to battle to win my place - or at least be ready when I am called on". When you have a better player ahead of you in the pecking order, you accept it and try to turn the situation around.

But the 33-year-old has found himself relegated to the bench this season as Gerard Pique forges a new partnership with Samuel Umtiti at the defense.

With Argentine looking as if they were going to miss out on qualification for the 2018 World Cup, in Russia, Messi hit a stunning hat-trick which had the Atletico Madrid boss, Diego Simeone, purring.

"My time with the national team will come to an end in Russian Federation and won't go on any further", he said.

"I will try in these six or seven months to prepare to be able to be. But the manager will decide I have a lot of respect for the decision that coaches make".
