Microsoft Edge browser (Preview) now ready for download on the Play Store

Not to be outdone in the ongoing browser war, Microsoft is bringing its Edge browser to Android OS.

This style of sharing is all part of Microsoft's push to build an ecosystem around your Windows 10 devices that can easily include Android and iOS mobile devices for cross platform/device sharing.

And in our interview with the company's head of enterprise mobility Brad Anderson, he said that 90 percent of the devices managed by its enterprise mobility management (EMM) platform were non-Windows. Some well-known browsers are available for Smartphone, PC platforms including Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, etc.

If you use Microsoft Edge on your Desktop/Laptop as your default browser this is great as you will be able to sync your bookmarks, history, reading list etc across devices.

If you have recently switched to an Android phone, you should check out the Microsoft Launcher on the Google Play Store, the interface is however not as good as WIndows 10 Mobile but the overall experience is much better than any other launcher. What that means again is that you might come across bugs and instability that could affect its performance. We'll undoubtedly be hearing more about these apps once the Fall Creators Update for Windows 10 drops, so stay tuned.

Find the app in the Play Store below.

Another new feature is the Continue on PC that lets you view the photos directly on PC without making major changes to any of your devices.

From the first impressions, Microsoft Edge on Android is amazingly fast and fluid. Microsoft has noted that some features still need to be added, but my short time with the Android app has been pretty smooth so far. With just a quick swipe-to-the-right, Microsoft Launcher offers a tailored feed of your important events, top news, recent activities, favorite people and most frequently used apps.
