Look, nobody will fault the Jets for their recent schedule, just like nobody will give them any breaks for the next 11 weeks, when they play teams with a combined 31-19 record.

After one season in Cleveland, linebacker Demario Davis found his way back home to the Jets. Reacquired by the Jets this summer in a trade with the Browns, the 28-year-old has been a wonderful re-addition to the Jets' defense, as he's now tied for second in the league with 46 tackles. He has been sacked 16 times though, already one more than he suffered in the entire 2016 season.

This year was supposed to be very different than it has turned out so far.

As good as the Jets are the moment, "there's that lingering thought around the league that says, 'Yeah, but they're still the Jets, '" Adam Kurkjian of the Boston Herald says. This matchup has an anticipation that isn't normally present when these two teams meet, but the Jets front seven will be a matchup terror for the Patriots offensive line.

Right now, this looks like the most important game for NY since Week 17 in 2015, when they lost a heartbreaking game in Buffalo that would've put them in the playoffs. However, Kansas City is worst in that category at a net of 26.2 yards lost per game in penalties, and the Chiefs are the only undefeated team in the NFL. The Jets have scored 92 points, and allowed 106 on the season.

"Some of them are ticky-tacky, some of them are legit and some of them you can question", Bowles said. "But at the same time, we feel that we didn't play up to our standards that we've seen on film — speaking for my position and our defense, specifically".
