'Playerunknown's Battlegrounds' confirmed to have no sequel in the future

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is still coming to Xbox One soon, but in addition to being realized as a digital game, it's going to be receiving a physical copy as well. As such, even though it is still in Early Access, some people are already asking if PUBG 2 is coming. Anyone caught outside of that area is said to be in the blue zone, and gradually takes damage over time.

Speaking with IGN in a recent interview, creator Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene responded to questions regarding where he envisions the game to be five years from now. There has yet to be a release date confirmed for the Xbox One release, although it is scheduled for this year.

According to Greene, if he got his way, this would not be the case.

He also said that there will be no sequel to Battlegrounds, as Bluehole is "building the game as a service". We'll still have the boxed copy that you buy ...we still want to polish and refine. They want to add more maps, more assets, optimize it, and refine the gameplay as they go on.

Finally, the game's most recent patch increases the damage the blue zone does over time to encourage players to stay in the play zone, rather than camping in the ever-moving blue zone. The zone is already widely feared by gamers due to how hard it is to participate in, but it seems it was not deadly enough for the developers.

A common tactic used by some players in the late game is to stock up on healing items and shoot enemies in the back as they move into the safe zone. This was simply not what the developers had in mind.
