Police shoot robbery suspect outside of King of Prussia Mall

YC was first on location after police shot a man who is reportedly described as a "serial robbery suspect" Sunday afternoon at the King of Prussia Mall.

The suspect was listed in serious condition at Paoli Hospital as of press time. During that robbery, the suspect jumped in the rear seat and put a gun to her head, demanding her purse.

The two officers present during the shooting and the suspect were not identified. The involved officers, whose names have not been released, will be on administrative leave until the investigation is concluded.

The suspect had stolen the vehicle during a robbery and kidnapping in New Castle, Delaware on October 27th. Authorities said a handgun was recovered at the scene along with a stolen auto. The victim was driven around at gunpoint before the gunman dropped him off near I-95 and fled.

Steele said the county detectives are conducting an investigation.

An armed suspect was wounded and placed under arrest after being shot by an Upper Merion police officer during the incident in the parking garage.

Anyone with information regarding the alleged crime is asked to contact Upper Merion Township Police.

In a statement Sunday night, the mall said that due to the "swift action" of Upper Merion police "the situation was contained, the suspect apprehended and no customers or employees were harmed". The mall remained open through the entire incident, according to officials.

The statement went on to direct inquiries to the authorities, citing an "active police investigation". "I've been working here for 10 years and I've never heard of anything like that until now".
