Selena To Get Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

According to the Hollywood Chamber, the star will be dedicated in the category of "Recording" at 1750 N. Vine Street in front of the historic Capitol Records Building.

Quintanilla will officially become the 2,622nd star to be honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on November 3 in Los Angeles, reports Billboard. More than 20 years after her death, Selena will finally be recognized for her contributions to music. The Walk of Fame Selection Committee had first announced in 2016 that Selena would be honored with a star.

Born on April 16, 1971, her life was tragically cut short when she was murdered at the age of 23 in 1995 by the president of her fan club in Corpus Christi. Today, she ranks among the most influential Latin artists of all time and is credited for catapulting the Texas sound into the mainstream national market. She was a brilliant artist. Eva continues her Instagram post, "She was the reason I even dared to dream that a better life was possible". On October 17, Google celebrated the 28th anniversary of her first studio album, "Selena" by dedicating a special doodle to its release.

She rose to stardom in the traditionally male-dominated Tejano music industry and achieved crossover fame after her death with the release of her English language CD "Dreaming of You".
