The New Mutants assemble in tense first teaser

In a crowded superhero movie landscape, how is 20th Century Fox going to make The New Mutants stick out?

The New Mutants is set to hit theaters on April 13, 2018.

After a brief teaser yesterday, the first trailer for Marvel's The New Mutants is here and gives fans an idea of what happens when you combine mutants and a horror film.

Now, thanks to today's first trailer, we can see exactly what they've been talking about... Marvel die-hards have been looking forward to the footage release for awhile now, and that excitement only grew this week thanks to Anna Taylor-Joy. "We're trying to do something very, very different", Josh told EW. True to the advance word on the film, you won't find any costumes here, nor any familiar X-Men.

Based on the popular comic book that first appeared in 1982, "The New Mutants" tracks a group of younger age mutants who are just discovering their awesome abilities. Magik, Wolfsbane, Cannonball, Sunspot, Mirage, and Cecilia Reyes will all feature in the film. Inspired by the dark supernatural horror of the "Demon Bear Saga", which ran from New Mutants #18-21, Boone has upped the ante by creating a world in which powerful mutants are essentially "institutionalized" because they aren't safe. The team will be challenged by the terrifying threat of the Demon Bear, the creature that has stalked Danielle's family for years.

Josh Boone is a massive comic book fan, and he grew up loving Claremont and Sienkiewicz's New Mutants run. Once the teaser drops, we'll hopefully know quite a bit more.
