Trump at Values Voters Summit: We're Saying 'Merry Christmas' Again

Mr Trump, meeting social conservatives, told the annual Values Voter summit in Washington he has followed through on promise after promise since taking office in January.

"I appointed and confirmed a Supreme Court Justice in the mold of the late great Justice Antonin Scalia, the newest member of the Supreme Court, Justice Neil Gorsuch", said Trump.

Trump is addressing the annual Values Voter summit in Washington.

'From my perspective, I do believe this president is a man of god. The Mexico City Policy.

'We protect religious liberty, ' he said.

"In America, we don't worship government". "These are the people we want to hear from and they will not be silenced any longer".

Trump zeroed in on this subject much more during his presidential campaign than he has as president. "It remained unclear how many women would lose contraception coverage and which companies would use the exemptions".

"We're getting near that handsome Christmas season that people don't talk about any more, ' Trump said on a day where the thermometer was at a relatively chilly 63".

Trump laced his remarks with other comments about faith.

Family Research Council president Tony Perkins said he is looking forward to the president's attendance.

This is not the first time Trump has addressed the group and initially he was not universally well received. "As we approach the end of the year-you know, we're getting near that handsome Christmas season that people don't talk about anymore".

Perkins praised the Trump administration's issuance last week of a "religious freedom" order, which is actually a broad license to discriminate in both the public and private sectors without repercussion.

President Donald Trump plans to promote his first-year accomplishments and argue for his tax plan to conservatives on Friday.
