Venom Filming Kicks Off with the Release of a Set Photo

Production on the upcoming Venom movie starring Tom Hardy has officially begun today!

Sony has released the first set photo for Venom, the Spidey-less Spider-Man spin-off film that will reportedly kick off a whole new cinematic universe. The director, who previously helmed Zombieland, is working on a script from Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner.

Eddie Brock is coming back to the big screen. In the Ultimate Marvel Universe, the suit has a more terrestrial origin, created by Parker and Brock's scientist parents in an attempt to cure cancer. When he connects with an alien symbiote, he's transformed into the slobbering Venom. While some fans were hoping it would be connected to Spider-Man: Homecoming, that won't be the case.

Though an official cast list has yet to be released, actors Michele Williams, Jenny Slate, Riz Ahmed, and Reid Scott are all attached to the film. This may be the first of many teaser pics we see from on Venom Twitter account.

"Venom" marks the first time an enemy of Spidey will be getting their own standalone movie but the character did appear in Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man 3" with the character being played by Topher Grace.

After several announcements of casting quite exciting and testifying to the interest that Sony door to the license, Venom unveils its first official image. The film will hit theaters October 5, 2018.
