Who would do this to them, and were they targeted?

Police are still trying to figure out how the men got into the house since there did not appear to be evidence of a break in.

Family friend Tiffany Baptiste spoke with the outlet and said in 1980, the couple, who immigrated to America from Jamaica, opened their home to the functionally disabled.

A witness told NBC 4 NY that she frantically came running out of the home pleading for help.

"They're so old and when you see them they look timid", said neighbor Denise Allen.

"She has not accepted the fact that my father has passed even though many people have already told her this", Delroy Thompson, 68, of Florida told The Post by phone Thursday about his heartbroken stepmother, Ethlin Thompson.

Investigators say the home was ransacked but it's unclear if anything was stolen.

In a crackpot move, a man carrying a vase at a Brooklyn train station ended up busting the container over another man's head during a heated argument, police said Wednesday.

Mr Thompson's niece Karlene Grose says she saw her uncle last Sunday, when he visited her to say goodbye to her terminally ill mom.

Officers entered the home to find the husband tied up and unconscious on the floor.

Investigators believe he may have died of shock, because he had no other injuries, according to ABC's NY station WABC. Waldiman Thompson's 100-year-old wife, Ethlin Thompson, was also tied up but managed to extract herself and call 911. "They are good people".

"She's a loving person", her brother Garfield Bringle said, according to the News. There wasn't initially any sign of forced entry, though police stressed that the investigation is still in its preliminary stages. Meanwhile, the area is covered with surveillance cameras, and detectives hope that the footage will give them some clues.
