Voters face key deadlines for general election

In-person voting for the November 7 general election began Wednesday at the Ashtabula County Board of Elections office, and people were on hand when the doors opened to cast a ballot, officials said.

County Elections Director Beth Dlug said early voting will no longer be held at the Dupont, Hessen Cassel, Georgetown and Aboite branches of the Allen County Public Library.

Anyone who needs to register to vote in the upcoming gubernatorial election needs to do so by October 16.

The state Board of Elections reminded New Yorkers that mail-in voter registration forms must be postmarked by midnight Friday, Oct. 13 and received by the state or local board of elections no later than Wednesday, Oct. 18.

October 13 is also the deadline switch party affiliations ahead of the 2018 primaries.

The satellite locations will be open Wednesday through Friday before Election Day, from 8 a.m.to 8 p.m., and on the Saturday before from 8 a.m.to 5 p.m., Dlug said.

The last minute to sign up to vote is upon us, with mail-in and in-person voter registration ending tomorrow.

"Absentee voting is a great option that allows Virginians to participate in the upcoming election even if they are unable to make it to the polls on Election Day". In Cayuga County, the board's office is located at 157 Genesee St.in Auburn.

The identification need not be a photo ID.
