5 out for England ahead of Germany, Brazil friendlies

He is likely to feature in England's games at Wembley against Germany and Brazil as Gareth Southgate gauges the squad's progress ahead of the World Cup in Russian Federation.

A report in The Times says the FA has confirmed they would use a video assistant referee (VAR) for the first time as Gareth Southgate, the England manager, prepares for the first friendly in the countdown to next summer's World Cup finals.

Taking on talented Germans on Friday and Brazilians next Tuesday, opponents Moore performed adroitly against in World Cups, England's understudies risk being overwhelmed.

Southgate had plumped for a bold squad for the last matches of 2017, with Tammy Abraham, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Joe Gomez called up for the first time as Daniel Sturridge, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Chris Smalling were overlooked.

Some critics may argue Southgate is asking too much of young prospects against quality opposition but Tottenham defender Eric Dier believes throwing them in at the deep end is the only way to find out if they are good enough.

"I don't really see it as a risk. If we want to be prepared for one of the biggest sporting events in the world we have to prepare by facing the best", Dier added.

There have been a number of famous clashes between England and Germany down the years with the latest been in March where England lost 1-0 in the Westfalenstadion, Dier played in the clash in Bavaria and ahead of Friday's match the 23-year-old stated that The Three Lions want to be playing the "very best nations" starting with Die Mannschaft.

After the row that those fines caused, Federation Internationale de Football Association reneged and agreed to relax their rules banning political symbols during matches, although the FA still required the permission of their opponents to display the poppy, which Germany agreed to.

"I think the minute we qualified we had to start our focus on the World Cup".
