Ellen Page Has Enrolled For Netflix's Umbrella Academy

The story follows the estranged members of a dysfunctional family of superheroes known as the Umbrella Academy - Luther, Diego, Allison, Vanya, Klaus and Number Five - as they work together to solve their father's mysterious death while coming apart at the seams due to their divergent personalities and abilities.

Variety reports that Ellen Page will be joining the cast of The Umbrella Academy in the role of the superhero the White Violin.

Gerard Way, creator and writer of "The Umbrella Academy" and executive producer on the Netflix adaptation, added, "I couldn't think of a better place for the vision [illustrator] Gabriel Bá and myself had when creating the comic, and cannot wait for people to experience that world as a live action show". She is the only one of Reginald Hargreeves' adopted children with no supernatural abilities.

Page will play Vanya, the black sheep of the family and the only member of the Umbrella Academy that has no superpowers.

Steve Blackman is the executive producer of the series, with Gerard Way serving as co-executive producer. The pilot script was adapted from the comic book series by Jeremy Slater (The Exorcist). While we still don't have a proper release date for the series, aside from a vague 2018 release window given during its first press release, this is a big step forward for the adaptation that many comic book fans are ballistic over.

Page's credits include Vice's Gaycation and the features Flatliners, Inception and X-Men: Days of Future Past, where she played Kitty Pryde. Page is repped by VIE Entertainment, WME and Morris Yorn.
