Here is yet another sign the iPhone 8 might be failing

After the iPhone 7 and iPhone 6s, the top five best-selling phones were Samsung's Galaxy J2 Prime and the Oppo A57, which both reached 7.8 million units, and Oppo R11 with 7.2 million units.

Apple shipped 46.7 million smartphones in Q3 2017.

While Samsung continues to lead as the top smartphone vendor in Q3, 2017, when it comes to the most shipped smartphone it was the year-old iPhone 7 from Apple, according to research firm Canalys.

Canalys estimates the iPhone 8 Plus saw shipments of 6.3 million units, while the iPhone 8 lagged with 5.4 million units.

Still, it was Apples older models that were the top phones by shipments worldwide.

Coming to the newer iPhone 8 series, Canalys' numbers say they accounted for 11.8 million shipments in the quarter, despite the mid-September launch. The Apple iPhone 7 is still the world's best-shipping smartphone in Q3 2017 with Apple shipping a whopping 13 million units.

The demand for the new models was lower than a year ago - the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus moved 11.8 million units in total, compared to 14 million for the 7 and 7 Plus in their first quarter.

Interestingly, the iPhone 8 Plus appears to be significantly more popular than the smaller model, the first quarter that a Plus model has outsold the standard version. "This falls well short of its predecessor, the iPhone 7 line, which topped 14 million in its first quarter", Canalys noted. This implies that component costs as a percentage of the device's retail price would stand at 37%, compared to about 35% for the iPhone 7 and 36% for the iPhone 8 Plus.

Apple's latest and perhaps the most advanced smartphone iPhone X ever made by the bandwagon drilled brand has been making headlines ever since it was unleashed in the market. It is important for us to highlight the fact that Google's Pixel 2 victory over Apple's iPhone X came with their single 12 MP Shooter itself who was quite underrated and underestimated ever since we got drenched in the portrait season. "It is aggressively defending its market share, but it will not compromise its rigid margin structure to do so". Samsung also shipped 4.4 million Note 8 phones. But Samsung's golden period of having a differentiated product has now ended.

According to TrendForce Apple will record 19.1 percent market share in the fourth quarter which is slightly higher than Samsung's estimated 18.2 percent market share.
