LeBron's Knicks comments prompt defense from Porzingis, Kanter

Now that the dust has settled on LeBron's comment, folks in NY are expanding that interpretation to include disrespect to Ntilikina as well.

Unsurprisingly, the King's remarks became a huge talking point and it didn't go down well in the Knicks camp.

"This is my rookie".

"I don't care who, I just can not let anyone disrespect my family like that, because when I play for an organization, I see my teammates and that organization as like a family", Kanter told reporters on Sunday. "I think Frank's doing an unbelievable job".

"Dallas got a good one".

With Porzingis going the extra length with his maturation process, it could be an encouraging sign of what may come over the next decade or so for the Knicks. "That's a rookie. You can not just say anything like that about him". "Because when I play for an organization, I see my teammates and that organization like a family".

"I don't care, it doesn't matter LeBron or whoever it is".

"It's actually surprising because I know LeBron is a really good guy, and he's really cool with the kids and everything". That's why I was pissed he said that. "That's a rookie. You can not just say anything like that about him".

After the Cleveland Cavaliers' 111-104 win over the Dallas Mavericks on Saturday, James marveled at the talent of Mavs rookie Dennis Smith Jr., who Dallas selected No. 9 overall in this year's draft.

LeBron James took a verbal swipe at Knicks rookie Frank Ntilikina (l.) Saturday night.

Instead, much to the Mavericks' delight, NY chose Frank Ntilikina with the No. 8 pick of June's draft, which allowed Dallas to select Smith at No. 9. Jackson ruffled James a year ago when he used the term "posse" referring to the superstar's friends and business circle. James responded by saying that he lost all respect for Jackson. Maybe he's still taking shots at Phil Jackson.

The Cavs' next game is Monday night against the Knicks in Madison Square Garden. In a tweet, Kanter shared an article that featured James' statement and commented: "Nope!" We love what we got.

In his third season in the league, New York Knicks forward Kristaps Porzingis has further emerged as one of the young rising stars.

Smith, a 19-year-old whom James has mentored since he was in high school, has shown flashes of brilliance early in his career. We're happy with him.

Porzingis told Adam Zagoria of SNY that Ntilikina is doing a "great job" in NY and the team loves him for it. "He's doing a great job, he's playing great and he's doing what he's supposed to".

It's unlikely that James was attempting to insult Ntilikina in any manner whatsoever.

LeBron James has always been an admirer of Mavericks rookie Dennis Smith Jr.'s game, dating back to Smith's season at North Carolina State and, before that, as an AAU standout out of Fayetteville, N.C.

"Oh yeah, of course", Porzingis said Sunday after practice in Tarrytown. "However, it's not gonna affect us and me". Every day he's working really hard.

Smith Jr.is the Mavericks' second-leading scorer at 14.8 points per game and is averaging 5.1 assists, too. Ntilikina, meanwhile, is averaging 4.4 points, 5.0 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 10 games.
