Manchester United won't sell Marouane Fellaini in January

The big Belgian midfielder will now be able to arrange a pre-contract with a foreign club in the New Year and leave in the summer on a free.

Fellaini has instead knocked back the offer of another contract extension, it is claimed, and the Red Devils now have their work cut out convincing him to turn down lucrative wages and more regular playing time elsewhere.

Regardless of Arsenal and Besiktas's supposed interest in Fellaini, will Man United let him go?

Of his nine appearances this season six of them have been from the bench.

Senior United sources insist he will not be sold then and they are resigned to him running down his contract and walking out for nothing next summer when he will be a vital part of Belgium's squad for the World Cup in Russian Federation.

But Moyes successor Louis Van Gaal and Mourinho both valued him for his aerial power and ability to unsettle defences, often sending him on as a substitute to change the course of a game.

He scored in the Europa League semi-final victory over Celta Vigo and also started in the 2-0 win over Ajax in the final.

Fellaini missed six games through injury until he returned to the squad for the trip to Chelsea before the global break, when he came on as a sub and almost clinched a late equaliser.
