Markets open higher in morning trade

Indian markets ended higher on Thursday.

The benchmark BSE Sensex ended up 26.53 points or 0.08% at 33,588.08, despite having tumbled to a low of 33,468.30 by early afternoon after having touched a high of 33,670.19 earlier. Here are the key highlights, which will affect the market today.

Minutes into trading, it was quoting at 33, 589.50 points, up by 27.95 points, or 0.08 per cent. While the Sensex was trading 31 points higher at 33,593 level, the Nifty was trading at 10,356, up 13 points.

The Sensex was up by 83.20 points or 0.25 percent at the Wednesday's closing. Bharti Airtel had announced on Wednesday that starting 22 November 2017, Tata Teleservices customers would start transitioning to the Airtel mobile network under an intra circle roaming arrangement.

Biggest gainers in the 30-share index were Infosys (2.60%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries (1.78%), Reliance Industries (1.60%), Power Grid Corporation Of India (1.04%), Axis Bank (0.78%), and Hero Motocorp (0.47%). UPL, Eicher Motors, Tech Mahindra, IndusInd Bank and Aurobindo Pharma are adding 0.7 - 1 percent, while Zee Entertainment Enterprises, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, UltraTech Cement and Hindalco are down 0.4 - 1 percent. Adani Ports, Bajaj Auto and Asian Paints also ended notably lower.

Moves in Asian share markets were minor with Japanese markets closed for a holiday and the United States off for Thanksgiving. Biocon shares rise 2.37 percent to Rs 418 in early trade. Once done, Thomas Cook's shareholding in Quess will drop to 51.56 percent.
