Nigeria on revenge mission against Argentina

Nigeria on revenge mission against Argentina

Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr, said he is disappointed that Lionel Messi will not feature for Argentina on Tuesday's global friendly.

Ahmed Musa of Nigeria shoots and scores his team's first goal against Pablo Zabaleta of Argentina during the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil Group F match between Nigeria and Argentina at Estadio Beira-Rio on June 25, 2014 in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

Rohr, who led the Eagles to qualify for their 6th World Cup finals, has been reported to deploy a 3-5-2 formation against the Argentines, with Premier League duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Iwobi leading the front line.

Mainz defender Balogun said the match is like a World Cup to the Nigerians because they have been looking forward to this game for a long time and they will give Argentina a good run for their money.

"Why do we hold a friendly game here in Russian Federation?"

Both nations have qualified for the FIFA World Cup 2018 and this friendly match is a dress rehersal ahead of the big event.

The Super Eagles shocked African football fans by skipping past Cameroon and Algeria, who could only record one victory between themselves in Group B. "I want to do well for Nigeria and repay the faith they have in me", he said from the national team's camp in Krasnodar.

One of the biggest fixtures of the worldwide break features Argentina and Nigeria clashing swords in Russian Federation.
