OnePlus rolls out Android Oreo 8.0 update to OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T

OnePlus rolls out Android Oreo 8.0 update to OnePlus 3, OnePlus 3T

So, if you are a OnePlus 3 or 3T user and haven't received the Oreo update yet, you may have to wait for a couple of more days. The Oxygen OS 5.0 comes with update to Android Oreo and adds Parallel apps, in simple terms - split screen style feature to the OnePlus 3 and 3T.

This comes about two months after OnePlus released the OxygenOS 4.5.0 OTA and later a bug fix OxygenOS 4.5.1 that updated the OnePlus 3 and 3T with some OnePlus 5-centric features. The company confirmed the software update roll out via blog post. The surprising part about the latest update is the fact that the Android security patch in the operating system is still lagging at September, a full two months behind the current security patch level. As claimed by OnePlus earlier, this the last ever software update for OnePlus 3 and 3T users.

Another key aspect of Android Oreo is the Rescue Party feature, which helps the device to recover from constant boot loops. The update also adds picture-in-picture support, auto-fill, parallel apps, smart text selection, a new design for quick settings, and more.

"We are pushing out the incremental roll-out of OxygenOS 5.0, our first official Android O OTA update for the OnePlus 3 and 3T", mentions the company on its blog post.

OnePlus announced that the Android 8.0 Oreo will be the last major update that the yesteryear flagship smartphones will receive. If the update has arrived for your smartphone, you should be able to download and install.

OnePlus is one of the smartphone brands that has been consistent in rolling out timely updates to its devices.

In the OnePlus launcher, the additions include notification dots, new app folder design. Further, the Android Oreo (Open Beta) update for the latest member to the family is due in December 2017 with the official update expected to roll out along with the OnPlus 5. This is the first official Oreo build for these handsets. It will reach select users today and the expanded release is coming up in the next few days.
