The awards are voted on by members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America.

As he established the MLB rookie record for homers in a season, surpassing Mark McGwire's 49 in 1987, seven of Judge's home runs had an exit velocity of 117 miles per hour or better, according to MLB Statcast.

"I haven't changed anything since Day One, " Judge said of his approach after Game 3 of the AL Championship Series, when his three-run homer and sensational catch in right field contributed to a win against the eventual world champion Houston Astros. The Dodgers went 89-38 in the games Bellinger started, a.701 winning percentage. But he bounced back with a strong September, hitting.311 with 15 homers and 32 RBIs during a playoff chase.

Other notable Baby Bombers to win Rookie of the Year honors include Derek Jeter (1996), Dave Righetti (1981), Thurman Munson (1970) and Tony Kubek (1957). He is also a finalist for the AL MVP Award announced Thursday. He faces stiff competition from Houston's Jose Altuve for the honor.

Bellinger also won the Sporting News NL Rookie of the Year Award and the MLB Players Choice NL Rookie of the Year Award last week. Bellinger made his debut with the Dodgers in April. The Dodgers had five-time All-Star Adrian Gonzalez at first base.

Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager was the unanimous victor a year ago.

Bellinger, meanwhile, earned his National League Rookie of the Year nod over Josh Bell of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Paul DeJong of the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Dodgers won 104 games, the most in the major leagues this year and the most by any Dodgers team in 64 years.

Judge beat out finalists Andrew Benintendi of the Boston Red Sox and Trey Mancini of the Baltimore Orioles, who finished second and third respectively.
