Rohr Picks Omeruo, Kayode to Replace Onazi, Simon As Eagles Begin Preparation

The Super Eagles on Monday in Rabat, Morocco began preparation for Friday's 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Algeria which is scheduled for Constantine.

The Bursaspor midfielder played 46 minutes in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Kasimpasa and was one of the early arrivals in the Super Eagles camp in Rabat.

Gernot Rohr also insisted that although the game against Algeria is a dead rubber he and his are out to make a good game out of it as he is set to hand fringe players opportunity to impress him.

Already, Victor Moses, Elderson Echiejile, Odion Ighalo and Moses Simon have all pulled out due to injuries, while defender Leon Balogun is also reportedly short of match fitness.

Ready to field a quite different squad for the game, the German coach added, "it's an opportunity for us to see other players who didn't play so much in the qualifiers".

"They (Algeria) have a new coach (Raber Madjer) and they are playing at home so they will be very aggressive", he continued.

"They have good players.Riyad Mahrez, Islam Slimani, Yacine Brahimi".

Rohr said: "We only have three days to prepare for Algeria because the game is taking place on Friday, but we have the opportunity in the second game to see everybody". It's true that we have already qualified for the World Cup, so the result is not the most important.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder faces a race to be fit in time for the Super Eagles' matches against Algeria and Argentina on November 10 and 14 respectively.

"On Saturday, the Nigerian team will fly aboard a chartered flight to Krasnodar, the Russian city that will host Tuesday's worldwide friendly against Argentina", the statement said.
