Saad Hariri held in Saudi Arabia, says top Lebanese official

On November 6, Saudi State Minister Samer Al-Sabhan stated that Riyadh would consider Lebanon "as a state that declares war on Saudi Arabia". "We call on the government of Saudi Arabia to do that".

The statement added that the "region does not need more tension".

She said the missile shot down near Riyadh on Saturday "may also be of Iranian origin".

The Secretary-General added that regional stability will happen only when these parties fully consider their policies towards Arabs, and review the approach adopted in previous years, which caused the region to enter into a cycle of conflict and turmoil. This was followed by Saudi Arabia's announcement that Lebanon had "declared war" against the kingdom.

His comments came after Saudi Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman accused Iran of supplying missiles to the Huthis, calling such support "direct military aggression by the Iranian regime", which "could be considered an act of war".

The sudden nature of his resignation has fuelled widespread speculation in Lebanon that the Saudi-allied politician has been caught up in a regional power struggle between Iran and Saudi Arabia and coerced into stepping down.

The Saudi-led coalition fighting the Houthis has closed all air, land and sea ports into and out of Yemen in reaction to the missile launch. We are talking about Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Yemen.

The official Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday that in his telephone call with Prince Mohammed, Mr Johnson had "expressed his condemnation of launching a ballistic missile by Houthi coup militias".

The Foreign Ministry has instructed Israeli ambassadors around the world to begin in earnest a diplomatic campaign against Iran and Hezbollah that includes backing Saudi Arabian claims that the two Shiite allies were behind a missile attack on Riyadh International Airport over the weekend. "There are no other paths forward than friendship, brotherhood and mutual assistance", he said.

USA ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley accused Iran of supplying a missile to Huthi rebels that was sacked into Saudi Arabia in July.

The White House explained that the missile systems were not present in Yemen before the conflict, calling upon the United Nations to conduct a thorough investigation. "What are the Yemeni people supposed to do?" he asked.

"Stop the bombing and then see whether the Yemeni people will show a positive response", he said.

Last week, the Crown Prince initiated the cleansing inside the royal family to get rid of disloyal relatives.

Awad said just two days before his resignation, Hariri met Ali Akbar Velayati, an influential former Iranian foreign minister who is close to Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khameini. "We proved that once", Zarif wrote of the nuclear deal Iran reached with world powers in 2015.

Expressing concern over missile attack targeting the Saudi Arabia's Riyadh airport, India on Wednesday reiterated its commitment to fight all forms of terrorism and violence.
