Seahawks sign cornerback Byron Maxwell

Seahawks sign cornerback Byron Maxwell

Prosise on injured reserve Tuesday because of a lingering ankle injury.

Maxwell is expected to fill a void for the Seahawks at the cornerback position, as Seattle lost star corner Richard Sherman to a ruptured Achilles on Thursday against the Arizona Cardinals. In his absence, the Seahawks went with Jeremy Lane for the rest of the game. After a strong 2016 campaign in Miami, Maxwell was released by the Dolphins in October after battling injuries and poor on-field play in 2017.

The Seahawks have signed free agent Byron Maxwell to a one-year-contract, according to multiple reports.

Maxwell, out of Clemson, was drafted in 2011 by the Seahawks with the No. 173 overall pick. If anything, Maxwell's return provides the Dolphins with much-needed depth in the secondary for the second half of the season. Prosise injured his ankle in Seattle's win over Arizona last week. He spent two seasons with the 49ers, playing in 14 games and rushing for 109 yards on 54 carries.

Davis is former fourth-round pick by the San Francisco 49ers out of SC. He was then claimed by Seattle and emerged as the team's leading rusher in the preseason with 106 yards on 24 carries with a long of 38 while also catching five passes for 41 yards and a touchdown.
