'Team India Needs MS Dhoni', Virender Sehwag Responds To VVS Laxman's Advice

Amidst the raging debate from various quarters on MS Dhoni's future in the Indian T20I lineup, veteran fast bowler Ashish Nehra has backed the 36-year old gloveman to play in the next edition of the World T20 in 2020.

MS Dhoni received some negative statement from former cricketers, especially by VVS Laxman, following the second T20I against New Zealand on November 4.

Legendary opener Virender Sehwag advised Mahendra Singh Dhoni to get going from ball one while chasing big totals and asked the Indian team management to brief the under-pressure player about his role in the T20 team. "You are conveniently targeting one man, which is not fair". The wicket is also not the same like when the new ball is being bowled. "Because Dhoni's numbers have overridden the last year and year and half, it has dwindled". "He hit a six in Delhi and it got showed five times in the post-match show, and suddenly he doesn't score in one game and we are after his life".

"As team members and as management we understand the situation". He is working hard on his game, understands his role but it doesn't come off every time.

In the same interview, Virat has also revealed that the "captain cool" Dhoni is not as serious as he seems on the field. Former India opener Aakash Chopra went a step ahead and have suggested to drop Dhoni for the upcoming T20Is against Sri Lanka before India go on to play South Africa, which will be a tough tour in December.

Sehwag has said the similar words for Dhoni earlier. "People need to be a bit more patient".

The fan following of cricketers is huge in India and they are also few fans who can do anything for their favourite. He is a very smart guy and understands where he stands with his body and game. "In T20 cricket, it is lot easier to make that transition as there is lot of experience in that team apart from MS Dhoni now".
