Whovians, Here's What Jodie Whittaker's 13th Doctor Will Really Look Like

The BBC has given the first look at the clothes Jodie will be wearing when she takes over as the Doctor in the new series of Doctor Who.

It was announced in July that the Broadchurch star had been cast as the Doctor by new showrunner Chris Chibnall. However, the photo reveals more than just Whittaker's costume; it hints that the next era of Doctor Who will be a lot brighter, more colorful, and possibly more optimistic.

It shows her in blue cropped pants with yellow braces, a long trench coat and brown boots, with the famous Tardis in the background. A nice coat is a Doctor Who must these days. Whittaker replaces Peter Capaldi, whose final appearance in the title role airs over Christmas.

The first-look picture comes with the caption: "New Series".

Like Whittaker, the first female Doctor in the franchise's 54-year history, the outfit represents a departure.

Eagle-eyed fans will also notice changes to the exterior of the TARDIS, pictured in the background.

Doctor Who Season 11 is said to consist of ten 50-minute episodes debuting in Fall 2018, beginning with a "feature-length" premiere.
