Abductors of Plateau Chairman Demand N100m Ransom

Jos-Kidnappers of the former Minister of Sports and Plateau State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chairman, Damishi Sango, have reportedly called the family to demand N100 million ransom, the state PDP Publicity Secretary, John Akans, has confirmed.

PDP Deputy Chairman in Plateau Amos Gombi, who also confirmed the incident, said that Sango and his team were abducted on their way to Abuja.

It was learnt that the Plateau PDP chairman and the other victims were whisked away by their abductors on Wednesday evening along Jere Road in Kaduna State.

"It was the Police who called his family and intimated them of the incident because his son's phone was seen inside the vehicle".

A source told TheCable that the kidnappers contacted Sango's family on Thursday afternoon to make known their demand. Emmanuel Tuang, disclosed this in an interview with Daily Sun at the party secretariat, in Jos, and said the party has no formal communication from the abductors.

However, the Kaduna State Police Command has said special forces had been dispatched to rescue Sango and four others. Mapis, according to the told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), quoted Sango as telling family members that the five of them were safe.

The sad incident happened along Jere Road in Kaduna state.

"We finished a meeting of the State Working Committee of the Party at about 1:00pm on Wednesday and he left for Abuja in preparation for the PDP convention coming up on Saturday and we spoke with him at about 3:00 pm. We are just so anxious and confused", he said.
He urged security agencies to intensify efforts to ascertain the fate of the victims and rescue them.
