AMD Always Connected PCs will include Qualcomm modems

There were two ARM laptops launched at today's event, one came from the ASUS and another from HP. Now though, you'll be able to get an Always Connected PC with an AMD processor and Qualcomm modem.

Tomorrow, we will learn significantly more about Qualcomm's newest chip and its capabilities, so stay tuned.

At today's Qualcomm Snapdragon Technology Summit the company has made their new Snapdragon 845 processor official. Running on Windows 10 OS, other key highlights of the always connected PC include instant boot time and always on feature.

Asus NovaGo is the world's first Gigabit LTE laptop with superfast download speeds which will allow users to download anything within seconds.


While this might seem like it wouldn't offer enough performance to power the full fat Windows 10 S operating system that comes baked in, the tablet performed admirably as we navigated the interface and used Microsoft's Office applications and browsing the web on Edge. The Envy has a similarly sized 12-inch display, though its 1,920 x 1,280 resolution isn't as sharp as the MacBook, and to be fair the Envy is more of a tablet convertible while the Macbook is a more traditional laptop.

Thankfully though, the HP Envy x2 has alleviated all of our concerns with its impeccably thin and ambitiously premium design. We're talking 20 hours of battery life, rather than 8; devices that turn on as fast as an iPad, rather than taking 20 seconds to resume from sleep; and always-on LTE connectivity that doesn't drain your battery life.

The HP Envy x2 is otherwise as well specced as any Intel-powered Windows machine with as little as 4GB of memory and a 64GB SSD for $599 (about £450, AU$790).

The HP ENVY x2 is a detachable 2-in-1 device reminiscent of the Microsoft Surface products or the Huawei Matebook-E that we recently took a look at. PC market is not falling it is just the beginning of an ERA.
