Auburn opens as 10-point favorite over UCF in Peach Bowl

The Knights enter the January 1 showdown with a 13-0 record, the last win being a 62-55 victory over Memphis to clinch the AAC conference championship.

The Tigers have officially been selected to play in the 2018 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl against Central Florida on New Year's Day.

"We didn't finish the SEC championship game the way we wanted to this year, but I'm proud of what this team accomplished", Malzahn told Low. This marks the third time the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl has been played on New Year's Day and the first time the game has ever been played in the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

A win by the Tigers in the bowl game will give the program its sixth 11-win season in school history in what will be its first trip to the Peach Bowl since 2011, when Auburn defeated Virginia 43-24 on December 31 in the Georgia Dome.

The Knights' offense leads the nation in scoring (49.4 points per game), and UCF ranks top five in the nation in three additional categories - passing efficiency, total offense and turnover margin. It's unclear whether Scott Frost, who took the Nebraska job, will return to assist with bowl preparation as originally suggested if a new coach is in place. He was set to be introduced Sunday in Lincoln.

Sports observers say the announcement of a new Knights head coach could happen soon.

Burkett has 74 tackles this season at UCF including 4.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks in his fifth-year senior season at UCF.

"I'm happy at Auburn". We had the ability to sustain it. now we got to do it, you got to do all the stuff, but we're a lot more stable right now than any other time that I've been here at Auburn. We're in a really good spot and the future is very bright. "I love the school and love where we're going".

Auburn will be led by the Southeastern Conference leading rusher Kerryon Johnson as the junior tailback had 1,320 yards and 17 touchdowns but was hampered by several upper body injuries in the SEC Championship Game that factored into him getting just 44 yards on 13 carries with a fumble.

No, the Tigers didn't win the SEC title or advance to the College Football Playoff this year, but Malzahn did manage to beat both Alabama and Georgia during the regular season.
