Carbondale kicks off Christmas season with Lights Fantastic Parade

The parade featured many members of the community as well. From Old Landing Road to 120th street, marching bands, jeeps and classic cars, firetrucks and floats paraded down Coastal Highway on December 2, an unseasonably warm day that drew hoards of people to line the streets and enjoy the show.

Participants included school groups, churches, sports teams and other organizations from around the Lompoc Valley.

To add to the Polar Bear Christmas theme, those attending the parade will be able to purchase hot chocolate at various stops on Russell Street.

"I loved all the girl scouts, all their little dresses and stuff, they're just so cute", said Mikayla, a transplant resident from Hawaii.

Laura Carmichael with the city of Meridian says it's great to see everyone come out and enjoy this annual Christmas tradition.

Some families were so excited they started setting up chairs for the parade early Saturday afternoon.

"Because of all the music, the lights and the kids and everything", said parade watcher Lisa Johnston, "my family will be here, its a really nice outing".

That's Trimper's Rides parading down the street!Santa appeared to have lost a few pounds this year, so be sure to leave out plenty of cookies on Christmas Eve.
