Ed Sheeran awarded MBE

Six years after breaking into the music industry, Ed collected the prestigious honour fromPrince Charles at Buckingham Palace in London on Thursday.

Ed Sheeran is pretty hot right now and his 2017 is set to end on a high after getting awarded an MBE at Buckingham Palace today for his services to music.

The British singer, whose latest album Divide spent more than 15 weeks at the top of the charts, was the most-streamed artist of 2017 and supported various good causes.

As he picked up his honour, Ed said he would be happy to play the first song at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding reception.

The investiture ceremony went rather better than Ed's last brush with royalty too, as he was left needing stitches after an incident at a party held at the home of Charles' younger brother Prince Andrew in November 2016.

The account for the official residence of Charles, Prince of Wales, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, also shared Sheeran's reaction to the honor, in which he remembered his late grandfather.

"He was asking me if I was still selling lots of records, and I told him I've got a concert in NY tomorrow".

"He was asking me if I was still selling lots of records, and I told him I've got a concert in NY tomorrow", Sheeran told the BBC, according to MTV.

"My grandfather was a massive royalist", he said.

'I think talent is like 30% of it and persistence, drive and self belief are the other ones, which I guess are all the same thing'.

Ultimately, Ed credits "persistence" with his sustained success.
