Game of Thrones season 8 might arrive later than expected

Maybe this will be good news for "Game of Thrones" fans who don't want the series to end, but bad news for fans anxiously awaiting the show's eighth and final season: star Sophie Turner says "GOT" isn't coming until 2019. Sansa Stark herself, Sophie Turner confirmed the unfortunate news to Variety saying in a new interview, "Yeah, I'm really excited".

Conleth Hill, Peter Dinklage, Nathalie Emmanuel, Emilia Clarke, Liam Cunningham, Kit Harington on season 7 of Game of Thrones, 2017.

Turner will next be seen on screen reprising her role as young Jean Grey in X-Men: The Dark Phoenix, which is due for release in November 2018. Then I have a couple indie movies coming out.

Her quote follows news that GoT - which is now shooting its final six episodes - will continue filming until the summer of 2018 (which also suggested that the show wouldn't be back until the following year given the amount of post-production work required for each season).

Fans will be required to bring their "Game of Thrones" season seven DVD or Blu-ray set proof of purchase with them to gain access to the screening. However, HBO did not issue any confirmation at the time. And without Littlefinger (Petyr Baelish, played by actor Aidan Gillen), it's a test for her of whether she can get through it. It's a big challenge for her, without this master manipulator having her back.

The eighth and final season is also rumoured to be making up for what it lacks in total number of episodes (just the six) by making each of them possibly as long as a feature film.

The actress also previewed an "emotional" final season. This season is more a passionate fight for her than a political, manipulative kind of fight'. All of the Americans wanted to come over. "We're all trying not to take it for granted anymore". "That would suck. You know some of the main characters are going to get turned".
